What is time blocking?
Time blocking means giving every important task its own slot in your calendar instead of keeping it on an endless to-do list. Rather than asking “what should I do next?” all day, you decide in advance when each piece of work happens. That one decision protects focus time, makes your week realistic and shows you right away when there is simply no room for something new.
This weekly planner combines time blocking with your natural energy. If you know your chronotype, one click fills Monday to Friday with blocks that put deep work in your peak hours and admin in your dips. Then you make it yours.
How to use this weekly planner
- Write your top 3 priorities for the week at the top. Everything else is negotiable.
- Fill the week from your energy recipe, or start with an empty week.
- Click an empty slot to add a block, then choose what it is, the category and how long it lasts.
- Click any block to rename it, move it to another day or time, change its length or delete it.
- Print it or save it as a PDF and keep it on your desk, or simply come back to this page. Your plan is saved in your browser.
Time-blocking tips that actually stick
- Block your most important task first. Put it in your peak window before meetings fill the calendar.
- Leave buffers. Plan roughly 70 to 80 percent of your day. Things always take longer than expected.
- Batch similar work. One email block beats checking your inbox twenty times.
- Use colors with meaning. At a glance you should see whether your week has enough deep work and enough rest.
- Review on Friday. Ten minutes to move unfinished work and set next week’s top 3.
Frequently asked questions
Is this weekly planner free?
Yes. It is completely free and needs no sign-up. You can plan as many weeks as you like and print or save each one as a PDF.
How do I print the weekly planner or save it as a PDF?
Click “Print or save PDF”. The page switches to a clean landscape layout that shows only your week. Choose your printer, or pick “Save as PDF” as the destination.
Where is my plan saved?
In your own browser on this device. It is not uploaded anywhere. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, the plan stays behind, so print or save a PDF of the weeks you want to keep.
What is the difference between time blocking and a to-do list?
A to-do list tells you what to do. Time blocking also tells you when. Giving each task a slot forces realistic choices, protects your focus time and shows when your week is already full.
How long should a time block be?
For deep work, 60 to 120 minutes usually works best, followed by a short break. Admin and email fit well into 30-minute blocks. If time blocking is new to you, start with one protected deep-work block a day.
Can I plan more than one week?
Yes. Use the arrows next to the week label to move between weeks. Each week is saved separately.
